Currently living in Illinois but originally from Texas. I have always enjoyed looking down instead of up! As a child one of my fondest moments was finding a piece of pottery in a national park and being able to show, with much excitement, the park ranger the exact location of my discovery. Metal detecting has always fascinated me but have yet been able to get into at the level I want too. I currently own a very basic one. Since moving up to Illinois I have spent many days walking the shore lines. At first just collecting sea glass with the kids but then I discovered various fossils and rocks. The beach never fails me. That's where this wonderful site will come in handy, identifying all my wonderful finds. I have already learned so much from just thumbing through the forums.
