Mexican reales coin from reign of Carlos IV 1788-1808. Diameter will determine the denomination.
1R=20mm; 2R=28MM;34mm=4R and 40mm=8R.
Don....

Hi, I think maybe you misinterprated one of my photos,
The mystery coin is not a carlos4, you positvely identified a diffent coin in the photo. Could you take another look please? Would be very helpful.

Mack knows coins better than I and my memory is bad and i may be misunderstanding. Google Carlos IV mexico mint and see if it matches. I'm on a weak signal

The best way is to post the mystery coin and the Carlos IV mexico mint ID side by side to see if its a match but i cant do it.

I'm starting to think it's not an eagle on the back maybe it's something else

This coin should be solvable. Where are the coin guys?

I think it is the Carlos 3 obverse and a later Eagle reverse I will post some pictures later I'm at work right now

Nice necklace!! I hope this is seen by the folks who seem to perpetuate the myth that holed coins were done to "sew into clothing", when it was mostly done for jewelry purposes.

Okay here's a theory sometimes when a die breaks they use an older version to keep production going so I'm thinking the Mexican reverse with a substituted Carlos 4 obverse

Very interesting.
Maybe the reverses were switched because it was made during the war 1810-1820 ,
The writing on the perimeter is odd to me.. i think gothic style or polish coin style. Now i think zacatecas from mexico

The mexican eagle seems the most probable for one side, im not shure about carlos 4

I can't do it on my celphon but if you put the Carlos iv side by side to the mystery coin it doesn't seem to match.

RE; Post 15
Coin on the right is from Potosi, Bolivia. Mint mark includes a distinctive "T".
IMO Assayers ('JR'): José de Vargas y Flores or Juan Palomo Sierra and Raimundo de Iturriaga,

Hello my old friend Mackaydon. We are trying to ID the coin in the center post #33. Its the reverse of the mystery coin on Joecoins necklace Do you have any idea what it may be? It doesnt seem to match a Mexican Carlos IV and there seems to be much confusion here. Go back to post #1 this is the mystery coin we are trying to ID.. We already know the others.

Somebody could search silver colonial coins from the late 1700s/early 1800s. Try Spanish, French, Porteguese, Dutch and all the Carribean/ South American colonies. I drew a line where i think is the bottom of the coin. I think its a profile of a face thats looking left and i drew an arrow pointing to the nose. It almost looks Haitian but i checked.

I messed around a bit with the contrast to try to bring out the lettering. I am starting to become obsessed LOL I can't imagine how bad it would be if I owned the thing.
