Help Identify Coin Real or Fake

Found this coin in the dirt yesterday and don't know how to tell if this is fake or not. It has a mint mark of S it looks like on the one side. Can anyone tell me how to tell if this is real and if so what year it would have been and its exact name? Also how would I tell what type of metal this is, it is not magnetic.
