Help Identify Unusual Brass Item

[Driftwoood]

Hi all. I found this at an early to mid-1800's home site. It came out of an area with a lot of what seemed to be carriage or sleigh parts. It's brass with an iron bolt connected to it... anyone know what it is?

Looks like it could be a sleigh or carriage step.

Coffen handle !!!

[Driftwoood]

old digger: That is entirely possible... have you seen any like it?
woodstock: Now I have to try to find the other three!

Yes, it has been a while.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

I have to agree with Old Digger. Don't believe it to be from a coffin.

It seems awfully small for a carriage step, it looks like an oversized drawer pull

It does, but that is some heavy duty hardware for a drawer!
