Dug these near Battle of Five Forks today. Any clue on what they are and any value range? I'm kinda new to metal detecting for relics

I'm no expert, but looks like you have 2 nice buckles someone will have more info for you congrats on some great finds

Well you definitely found a confederate buckle... AND a...
Virginia sword belt plate, state seal Virtus slaying the tyrant with sword down.

"SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS", thus always to tyrants, intended for Virginia officers. Buckle is rectangle following the Federal Regulation of 1851 and was designed to secure a belt fitted over a soldier's jacket, used to carry a sword , generally for officers or enlisted cavalry.

The Ridgeway Civil War collection Buckles issued by Virginia....DRAFT.....

Banner hunt BTW.
Stellar finds.

Thank every one so much for the help!!! Just getting my son into metal detecting and this was awesome!!

Incredible finds, and excellent condition. Take care of those babies! Congrats. -Lisa & John

Those are two outstanding buckles. Congrats on some nice finds.

I'm no civil war relic expert but I'm thinking most guys that look for that kind of stuff would give there left nut for either of those finds, well done.

When I saw the "CS" on that 2 piece buckle my reaction was WOW!
Both are great recoveries, but that 2 piece is probably a banner. I don't know if you have been a Tnet member long enough to qualify, but I'm going to hit the nomination button just in case.
Congratulations

If I began Congratulating you on two Fantastic Confetrit' finds, I couldn't in a years time do justice. I've been a Relic Hunter here in Georgia for over 30 years off and on, and I have never found a buckle or buckles such as this. Well Done. Go back to this same area and scour this area. I have to move to ole' Virgini". Lol

New to relic hunting? You just did in one day what a lot of veteran CW Relic hunter have never done. Two Confederate belt plates in one day. Makes me curious about what else you found.

I agree... and with all these things said... I only have one more thing to add...

BANNER !

You should take a picture of them side by side in one clear good close photo IMO.

OMG!!! What a day. You are definitely on a virgin site. Let's see the bullets, buttons and other relics that have to be there

What else did you dig?! I want to see it all. Might be some gems in the 'scrap pile' if you didn't know what those were. And that's not a jab. Good choice in posting them--those are the right items. Something tells me you had an inkling as to what they were.... ;)

Great digs buddy.

I have a friend who purchased 65 acres next to Battle of Five Forks 35 years ago and it had never been metal detected. He gave me three days to hunt and that was it. In addition I found a sword handle, Confederate (I) button, and some flat buttons. I only have a Garret Ace 350 that my wife recently bought me for my birthday I found most of the items along a creek about 6-8" down

I also dug a Confederate (I) button and some flat buttons all along a creek about 6-8" down on a poetry that he purchased 35 years ago and has not been hunted since he purchased it

MAN SOMEONE STRUCK GOLD IN THE HOLE..

I honestly don't think you have any idea about how good of finds those buckles are. I have been detecting for over 40 years now and have never even seen one in person much less dig one. My hat is off t you.
