help identifying object.

Hi, I wondered if anyone could help me to identify the object in the photos. I found it in Cornwall. I was out foraging for wild mushroomsIt was very dirty, so I gave it a clean. It is gold in colour and the rings can be moved slightly /almost spring like. it has a connection on one end, which looks like it was attached to something. I thought it might be a broach or something belonging to a machine or something due to its unusual design and detail. thanks

Looks a bit like a thermal bulb/capillary tube. They're used as a temperature sensor for a variety of applications in heating/air conditioning/refrigeration.
