Good evening everyone. I found this item some time back and haven't had any luck identifying it.
Any help would be appreciated. It's not magnetic however does have a little weight to it. From
looking at it for a while it seems to have had a like a dome top that was smashed in over time.
Found in Cartersville Ga.

Hi dz302
What you may have is a Confederate Salt Kettle.
"A "Confederate salt kettle" refers to the large iron kettles used by the Confederate States of America during the Civil War to produce salt from seawater or brine. Salt was a crucial resource for preserving food and curing leather, making it essential for the Confederate war effort. These kettles were a vital part of salt works established throughout the South. I'm wondering if it was a center from some type of a hub cap.

I'm not sure what it is, but I'm pretty sure it's not a "confederate salt kettle", or any other kind of kettle.

Appears to be Army green paint on aluminum.

Breather cap for something military?

Ordinance storage tube cap?

Metal barrel bung cover?

At first glance it looks aluminum. What kind of metal is it? The 2 "handles" at 9 & 3 o'clock look like they might have been used to hold it in place.

I seen the army green paint also... had me in that direction but couldn't find anything that looked like it.
The two ears look like they can be bent down and attached to something else. Thanks for the input.

Those aren't handles they are tabs that bend down and clamp on to something else.
Thanks for the input. Oh and it seems to be aluminum but thick and rugged.
