I am new to treasure hunt and just getting into artifact hunting. After picking up some worked pieces on a family farm in NE Iowa, I’m hooked! A couple weekends ago I pulled this ”wedge“ from the creek I hunt. Both sides are fluted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also added the pieces that I found near the same creek at different times over the past few years.

First 5 pictures, same rock, has natural erosion, not an artifact. The bottom picture bottom row left has possibilities as do the next 2 but need more pictures, with Indian artifacts we need pictures from multiple directions. Others look natural with out better pictures.

That big stone could be used to make shoes with? As a mold of some sort? If its super hard it could also be used to sharpen knives tools?

What really caught my eye was the two groves on the sides, yes there is erosion on the stone but I don’t think those groves were eroded away. Would anyone know where I could go to find an artifact mentor in Iowa? I am not looking for hunting spots, I would just like to visit with someone in person and create a friendship. I appreciate this website and still plan to post, share and ask questions. I am located SE of Des Moines with access to ground in Southern Iowa and lots of access to ground in NE Iowa (Fayette and Clayton County, where I grew up). Thank you for any information!
