Help me I.D. This coin

I found this tonight in a box of half dollars.

It's some kind of Asian coin, and it says 20 cash on the obverse, the rest of the edges are pretty worn so I can't see if it says anything else.

Could it be some kind of old casino piece, why would an Asian coin say 20 cash on it

No, it's a regular issue Chinese coin. If you have a few hours, you can look through all the ones made that are similar to yours to find the exact one. There were tons of different mints from various provinces but many of the coins look the same. There will probably be only one or two symbols that are different.

Yeah, it's similar. I don't have the time to match yours right now, but it should be from around that period. The value would be minimal generally.

What you have there is a 20 cash coin from the Ch'ing Dynasty, minted between 1903 and 1905. The characters on the front translate as "Kuang-hsu Yuan-pao", Kuang-hsu being I believe the emperor. The words above the dragon do indeed say "HU POO" (not sure what that refers to).

This stumped me too. Apparently it's the Ministry of Finance.
