Looking to buy my first metal detector, I'm thinking either the Fisher F4 or the Minelab Xterra 305. Just using it for coins and possibly some civil war artifacts here in Tennessee.

400 is my budget and it's pretty firm

I bought a used F4 with DD coil back in June and love it. Found over $400.00 (face value) in coins since mid may. Used the F4 to find most of it. The F4 cost me less than $300 on craigslist. The detector paid for itself in 3 months.

I have a used 1 yr old F5 for sale, it's a good step up from the F4.PM me for info if interested or check in the classifieds. The F series and X-Terra's are both good detectors.

For coins the Minelab X-Terra 305 is an excellent detector! I have a used Used Teknetics Gamma 6000 Metal Detector | BigBoysHobbies for $299. That is a STEAL!
