I believe the little gold star means awarded twice. Gold star for each add'l award. Silver for 5'x. My dad was a 3 war vet with a chest full of ribbons. MANY gold and silver stars on his ribbons.

Oklahoma National Guard and Puerto Rico National Guard? ??? I would have never guessed that. And I find it odd that they are from two totally different areas. :icon_scratch: I will have to do some more research and try to figure out where this pilot has been stationed. From what little bit I know, he was stationed in Arizona and California for pilot training before being sent to Europe for WWII.

Either way, I really appreciate the research and help VPNAVY. Thank you.

Those may or may not be correct IDs. Every service has their own ribbon meaning, and there are only so many colors and number of stripes possible. From active duty, to reserves, to NG of every state, to ROTC... Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, CG... From many different wars... I'm sure those 2 ribbons have held many meanings.
