Hi all,

New to TNet posting but have been following for a while. My finds have been modest at best as I don't get out much. My best find was 1935 Buffalo and a 1941 Merc. I tried a new spot last fall a found my first two spills, one clad and one silver: 4 silver Washington quarters, 3 war nickels, 4 Wheaties, and another old Jefferson. I also found a flat button in the vicinity of the spill. Knowing that the button must be old I returned in the winter on a rare day this winter when the ground was not frozen solid or covered with snow. Now the relics started coming: Superior Treble Gilt flat button, Best Colour London flat button, lead coat weight, British spoon handle, and the attached image. It is roughly the size of a penny and says "PATENT" in an arc towards the bottom. There is something else stamped directly above but is not recognizable. The back is completed fried. Anyone have any ideas???

I've been sitting on that since December doing research on my own and have come up with nothing. Maybe to aid in the ID would be what I found when I returned to the same spot last weekend 4 feet away from the original hole...1825 large cent!!! Beat my oldest coin by 110 years... figured it was time to post.

Any help would be appreciated and happy hunting!!!
