So my friend just showed me this and said her uncle gave it to her 20 years ago and told her it was found at a dig site. She used it to burn insence. Not sure where in the world that dig site was. He is no longer around to get any info. Could it be really old? Could it be a modern piece and IMG_20180604_094744516.jpg IMG_20180604_094759660.jpg IMG_20180604_101212531.jpg IMG_20180604_101206732.jpg IMG_20180604_101305360.jpg IMG_20180604_101239845.jpg he was maybe fooled when he obtained it?

It looks to have a glaze around the rim so that would make it modern. Hopefully someone who knows Pottery styles will come along and help you. You can try PMing member Neanderthal. He is very knowledgeable on items like this.

It’s a neat piece of pottery, but I don’t think it’s particularlyold. It could be tourist piece fromsomewhere south of the border, or it could just be a creative piece made by apotter somewhere here in the States.

i think it is burnished not glazed, i like how the turtle makes it stable when it is upright....but do not recognize it as to culture or period, neat little thing.
