This steel frame was found on a recent dig at a 200 year old family homestead near a cellar. Out of the same hole came a solid brass wagon wheel hub cap and what looked like parts of a seat - leather and stuffing. The frame is 14" X 8 1/4" - looks like it may have been blacksmith made - doesn't have a factory look to it. I was thinking part of the front end of the swing frame on a wagon. The arch is about 5/8" across. Hard to tell if the holes were drilled or drifted but looks like wear on the center one - it is kind of oval shaped. I would like to know if it is part of a wagon or buggy frame and what it is called. Any help would be really appreciated.
