henry shell casing

I found this about 6 inches deep on folly island SC last week. Im a bit baffled. The top of the cartridge has what appears to be a "u" stamped on it. Considering the presence of the union soldiers on the island during the civil war could it be a shell casing?

Shell casing. Rimfire. You can see the double firing pin marks on the bottom. I just found one with double strikes. Probably old

OK, that's strange! I have a Henry shell casing here but the one im asking about is bigger. Is it just a different size caliber?

seger i found one of those looks like the same size too i do see a U on yours and
thats what mine has now i'm curious too
it was used with a henry rifle ( 2 - firing pins ) DCMatt shows a Henry cartridge with
an H does anyone know what the U stands for ?

"U" was Union Metallic Cartridge Company, later Remington. Monty
