Wonderful find. Love anything to do with history.

Just so I am clear, is this a token in your collection that you haven't seen dug before, OR, did you dig this, and have no others to compare it too? It is a beauty for sure....

That is a really nice piece. I wonder if it was issued with a hole or it was punched in later?

Awesome! Nice token!

Now that is a very cool find.

Wow! thanks a lot for that link, I've searched for closer view of one of these medallions with no success and you found a nice example, it's really cool that it's complete like that. BigWaveDave I dug this Sunday at a park/woods that I've hunted for years, it's about 15 acres and about 2/3's of it is woods with a nice canopy and thick layer of leaves which makes it ideal for hunting cause I've yet to see it ever freeze in the winter. I have made many great finds in this woods through the years and even found some really nice silver this winter there. The spot actually had temporary military barracks on it after WW2 and I've found other military paraphernalia there in the past.

I still have the two chain links that the ribbon ties on too.

This is how it looked before I did electrolysis on it, if it had been really pitted I probably wouldn't have done it.

Good call on the zapping of that beauty, it came out perfect. Dates on tokens are a extra bonus, I love finding old tokens like that much more than silver in that same time frame.

Great find, your site sounds like a great one to keep you busy for years to come.

I agree 100%. I'd rather have a nice token for the collection than a silver anyday - key dates excluded of course! :tongue3:

Nice token!
