Hey Patriot...I Think I Have Enough! (Updated with "after" Pics)

My strategy is to find the farmer who owns the most land and make him my best friend! I met him this evening and he enthusiastically gave me permission to hunt any and all of his expansive properties. He owns over 1000 acres throughout my area and much of that is very old riverfront property. I started in a field very close to my house that he is in the process of haying and is right on the river. My maps show me that there was an 18th century settlement in this area but I can't nail down the exact spot.

I started in the most likely areas of the field and struck out...then I noticed a stand of old growth apple trees off the edge of the field and decided to give it a try. First signal was was showing shallow, iron and large. I tapped the shovel and the trade axe was just under the surface. The bit is broken but 80% of it is there! This is the 3rd trade axe I've found this year...you would think that they were easy to find...really, they're not. I found the 1st this spring with Patriot when I commented that I would like to find one...now I want to find a cannonball!

Well romeo, I didn't know what to expect when I read the title... First thing came to my mind, was that litter bugger found a cache of cannonballs....That's another great example there! prob no marks on it but still a welcome addition to the collection.
Like IP says you find things in 3's... Your tied with me too..I've found 3 one year but you have a great chance of beating that for sure....Also like IP I would always take one for the collection but an 8 reale at this point would be sweet...At least someone is getting some good hunting in....again well deserved! :notworthy:

The first 8 reale I found was just across the street from where I found this axe...you, IP and IH should be thinking about making a trip down this way! I guarantee I can get you on some decent sites, especially in the fall.

That definitely sounds like a sweet plan to me.... my ancestors are from that way too so I would be up for that as well as IP and IH... just make sure that Orange R..... is clear of horses and :)

yo Romeo

From the land of the Bluenose....nice find and those are indeed nice areas to hunt especially along the Stewiacke and Avon River areas.

...and here it is after 24 hours in the zinc and lye bath! No touch marks but ready for display.

Did you clean that watch bracelet like that? And do you know there's what looks like a fish design on there? Gotta be an Invicta? Is there an Invicta Doxa? :icon_scratch: That must be it. ;D
