New to the forum, new to prospecting in any serious sense. I've been reading about placer geology for a while now and got pulled in by the idea that paleo-waterfalls (the ones that migrated upstream and left their plunge pools behind) might still hold deposits that the obvious modern falls don't.

I've gotten into GIS working with lidar DEMs and have been experimenting with what you can pull out of high-res topography. Mostly focused on the Klamaths and Junction City for now, since the historical record gives me something to check my ideas against. Illinois isn't exactly placer country, so all of this is armchair until I can get out west.

Looking forward to learning from people who actually know the ground. I'm sure there's a lot the maps don't show that the prospectors here figured out a long time ago.
