Hi from central California

First post here; wanted to say hello. I'm in the pines of Los Padres Forest and interested in doing some local relic and coin hunting around a few old mines and historic trails. I've never had a "real" metal detector, so if someone could kindly direct me to where in the forums I should ask advice about brands, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! ^_^

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! Just ordered my first "real" detector from Bart at BigBoys; a Tesoro Tejon in black. Had to have the Tejon, as I live right near Fort Tejon. ^_^
Hoping to post some pics of local finds in the near future...
