Hi guys... wanted to share my scores :)

Hi guys I'm probably one of the younger ones here (just turned 18) and have fallen in love with coins. I have bought some ASE and 1oz apmex bars in the beginning of 2011 but never knew of coin roll hunting until I stated just a little less than a month ago. So far its been great with less than $1500 in half's searched.

1x 1962 Franklin (The only silver found in my first ever $500 box 3 weeks ago)
1x1964 (Found two days ago in a small town. It was the only half they had and it was on my birthday! )
3x1966
2x1967
4x1968

All the 40%'ers where found in lose trays 2 weeks ago from two banks that are the street across from the coin store

Also today was a good day. No silver halfs but I got bunch of Ikes (no S). I did win an ebay auction of 5 items though.

2002 PR NGC 69 Mississippi
2002 PR NGC 69 Indiana
2002 PR NGC 69 Louisiana
1976 40% silver half graded MS64 by AACGS
1982 Proof Washington half in mint case PR 63

I have no idea how you guys get the perfect pictures but this was the best I could get.

$6.50 each for the Silver Quarters!
$5.90 for the 40%'er a great deal I think considering its graded and a little under spot.
$10.50 for the George!


It was from a local coin store so I was able to pick them up with a 3 min drive; beats shipping!(saved $10.00)

Extra bonus was the coin shop guy sold me 12 steel pennies (6 i gave to my brother), three of each where uncirculated (1xS,1xD,1xP) in special cases for only $.10 each

Good luck with that AACGS slabbed coin... Probably graded much higher than it actually is based on the Google results.

Good luck with that AACGS slabbed coin... Probably graded much higher than it actually is based on the Google results.

I think this is a polite way of saying that if you buy coins, try to stick with one of the major coin grading services like NGC or PCGS. They tend to grade fairly and it's easier to sell them to dealers or collectors when the time comes. Some of these grading companies are not more than folks buying nice hard-plastic holders from Amos Advantage and then printing up a nice looking insert and posting it as if it were rare and desirable. Keep your eyes open in this hobby and be aware that many folks are out to take advantage of you so read the forum and educate yourself as much as you can so you won't get taken advantage of.

I personally don't think you did bad with that graded half at only $5.90. If no one wants it because of the company that "graded" it you could always bust it out and sell it loose. When you start buying more expensive coins, just be careful that you are getting your money worth.

Oh yeah I absolutely knew about what grading companies to buy. NGC and PCGS is the only two I should look too when buying a coin for a real grade (or a coin for a premium over PM value). This though was only $5.90 (below spot price) so it really didn't matter, plus I wanted a 1976 silver. Even the coin guy told me these guys have a stories of marking coins a little to high. He did guarantee me though it was MS63 at least.

Another Auction will end today I can post what I win.

Edit: I wanted to ask what is the real value of the quarters in their current form?

Got back today searched for some halfs but no banks had any so I got some nickels.

$6 worth of nickels

2x1946 P
1x1953 S
1x 1955 P
1x1961 proof
1x1964 proof

Also won an auction today.

of 2 Silver proof MS69 quarters (Virgina and Washington) for $7.50 each. While waiting to get them I noticed some standing liberty quarters and couldn't resist.

Ended up with:
1927 in VG (and i mean very very good) for $9
1930 S in VG for $9
