Ok here we go! I currently own the Downtown maps of Boise Idaho from 1919.! I saw this place 10 years ago and loved it! So today.............See Photos! My favorite find today was that 1916 Dime. But now, it's the Baggage Tag! "Can anybody date this? A.C.T. &Co?? as for the dime it's marked on the front appears to be a "W" with 'a" underneath it. and on the back of the coin is marked s. I don't care, it's my first silver dime, and a real early one for me!
Love the Tag Marked "WW Wilcox $ Co. Chicago A.C.T. & CO #373. Boise Idaho PACIFIC. On the back is "40' Love this one! The photos will tell the rest of the story! The sidewalks are stamped from 1910 and 1913. Who ever owned this house was well to do! I can tell from the foundations.! Yes Im going Back! After finding gold last week and Silver this week.

I Say! Im not a rookie any more. Tips! Location! Location! Study! :coffee2:

You hit the nail on the head! It's location, location, and location. Studying maps, google maps and conventional maps before you head out is a one of the major contributing factors to success in the hobby!

Nice Merc! :icon_thumleft:

Well, I found a bit more on the tag. I found that Frank J. Smith was proprietor of the Pacific Hotel in late November, 1911, but haven't found when the business changed from his hands to the Thompsons. I think 1913 would be the latest date for it, since apparently Sidonie (as she was later shown - spelling was pretty iffy in those days) sent her husband, Alanson, packing late in that year. She filed for divorce for non-support in early December, 1913 and it was granted later that month. So, she would undoubtedly have quit using the A. L. T. & Co. in any new transactions, although she may well have kept using the tags as long as she had the Pacific Hotel.

Incidentally, she married the manager and day-clerk of the hotel, George Meier, in February of 1915 and they went on to own the Bristol Hotel, also in Boise at 10th & Grove Streets.

Gratz! Nice tag. I am sure there is more to come from that site! Thanks for sharing.

You said, " I Say! I'm not a rookie any more. Tips! Location! Location! Study" All that is true and....being one with your machine which it appears you are! On this forum there's 3 guys using 3 different machines (Spectra V3i (jerV4), Whites M6 (pl8tman), and ACE 250 (crazyjarhead) with large coil) and they're all great as they know their machines. Looks like you'll be the one who gets great finds with the Silver umax! Looking forward to your future posts!
