My metal detecting year starts May 1 and ends April 30. A couple of weeks ago year number 24 ended. Things are thinning out so not even close to my best year, but a good year anyway. Below is a list of my year totals and some highlight pictures. Sorry it took so long to post, but life is busy.

Total coins …. 6,946
Face value of coins …. $506.35 (best year $1,447.90)
Silvers …. 105

Diamond jewelry ….. 4

I managed to make 2 returns which are the highlight of my year. I returned a wedding ring that had been in the family for 3 generations and was lost the day before I found it. (I didn’t go looking for it, but I was asked if I had found one while I was detecting and the description was spot on.)
The second return was a college class ring that had been in the ground for 39 years. With luck and the help of a few friends I managed to return it to the 92 year old it belonged to.
Water hunts can produce a lot of small jewelry and frequently nice gold and silver rings.
I got lucky and found my first Spanish 1 reale. Most Spanish silver I have found and ones I see on line are from the Mexico City mint. This one is from the Lima mint.
My most unusual find was probably 2 gold rings in a coin sorting machine. Not a detector find so not in the totals above, but it sure made my day.
Another memorable find was the 2 $20 bills I found on the sidewalk. Another non detector find not included in the totals for the year.
