Just returned from the beach after 6 hrs metal detecting the west coast of Florida with my Excal. Found a total of 114 coins (29 - .25, 17 - .10, 15 - .05, 53 - .01). The first 3 hrs I worked the wet sand and found perhaps 20 coins. As soon as I went to the back beach I could not keep-up. Lots of black sand (love so see it) and yielded pretty green coins. Actually surprised that I didn't find gold, today.

This is a new milestone for me to break 100 coins in a day. Have to go back to find the gold. Also found a round metal disc with “19023”.

I assume that it is a dog tag.

Also found a copper plate (1 1/8” x 1 3/8”) with some type of unrecognizable lettering and with 3 beveled holes for screws. Have to do some electrolysis to clean and reveal the lettering.

While metal detecting the beach, a lot of people ask what is the most valuable thing that I've found over the years... I always say my wife.

That could be construction worker "brass". Before the age of all these electronic swipe cards, when you badged into a large construction project, you'd "brass in and brass out". That was a way of tracking time and personnel.

Lovely load of clad... The gold is coming... The odds are now in your favor[emoji3]

That's a lot of digging:icon_thumright:

Good haul the gold will come, the tag is a cremation tag I throw them back as far as i can.

The number tag is most likely a crematorium tag.
AAAuuuuuuu Really? Its the second one that I've found. I don't know why but that really grosses me out...Have to put it on my wife's toe tonight when she's asleep.

Hey, wanted to let you guys know that one of the quarters in the 114 coins found was dated 1953 - A silver quarter! My first in Florida. Details posted elsewhere on TreasureNet.

Wow. You were kept busy at the beach!
Good hunting.
I have to wonder how the crematory tags got there...?

Wow I am amazed you can still type after a day like that. Congrats on the 100 coin threshold, that is a feat to be reckoned with. Awesome finds, thanks for sharing.

Well. Just informed the wife that those round metal tags I've been finding on the beach metal detecting are cremation tags. You should have seen the look on her face! She says I should return then to the Ocean/Gulf. I'm thinking that if I can find enough of them I could make a necklace.
I imagine that when loved ones dump the remains into the ocean the tags are part of the contents...wonder who #19023 was? Possibly a metal detectorist who wanted one of us to make a final find...

Impressive display of treasure finds, Lawrence!:notworthy:

I agree with Casper: The green clad is more fun :) It means you're dealing with coins that've been there for years, and that mother nature is congregating the heavier goodies together . Rather than random placement. And yes: that's when you hold your breath and hope the next signal will be gold :) Congratz on the thick coin day of rapid action.
