That's awesome! My wife is totally cool with me going detecting just about anytime I want to, but she wants nothing to do with it. She'll go with me sometimes and sit and read while detect.

XLT is a great detector. I've had my XLT since 1999. That thing has helped me find two gold coins, dozen & dozen of silver coins, etc etc.

Best machine for coin hunting ever made in my opinion.

I used a personal program for hunting old home sites....

accept all from -90 to +100
turn off target ID, just use the VDI numbers.

Once you get used to the VDI numbers, you'll be amazed how accurate they are.

I once found a 1911 barber dime between 2 pieces of foil wrapper, by just watching the spike on the VDI scale.

If the ground conditions in your area are neutral or close to neutral, the depth is amazing.

You are one lucky man. That was a super idea your wife had and just think it's not even Christmas yet. You may get more detecting items for Christmas. I have heard great comments about Whites detectors. I would definitely take your wife out to dinner at a fancy restaurant as a thank you and present her with a diamond ring that you found with your new detector. Great Gift..Now go out and have fun and learn your new machine.
