so I was working for an auction company...security{people steal} and identification of native American objects not to be sold..religious objects...
{also, removal of personal papers, drugs illegal weapons, restricted bird feathers, ...danged what one finds in storage boxes...}

I turn my back to go get coffee..an come back to see a hopi mudhead costume being sold....
HOLD IT!
so I get all the religious artifacts back...I take them to this hopi guy I know...he returns the things to the family...small world up there still.

he hands me this stick I had recovered...said 'I needed it in that crowd of buyers'.

I know where stuff is, I hate to leave it as I know someone will eventually take it. I reported it to the State Archy at BLM, never got a response. I just take picures, considered to just bury it where it lays? What do you think?

ethics and the law say walk away...
but...find the cultural preservation officer of the tribe nearest to the find...give them photos an directions...ask to go along...I have had good luck using that method...
rebury is out of the question...sets the object in another time frame.

I take my time finding the person to return the object too...lots of people talk the talk...but then need the money artifacts bring.
too sad really...almost every "ruin" in the southwest: signaua, anasazi...was made a ruin by treasure hunters...
the old ones just walked away an left every thing in place...
the walls were blown out for light to pothunt at walnut canyon, pottery stolen across the west to feed a whiskey addiction by locals...
graves are desecrated for beads an holed pots.

Canyon, it p_sses me off to see the destruction by folks out just having fun.

That is a great idea. On a good note, you better have ropes and gps to keep up with me. I dont use ropes by the way....hint hint. Yes there is the mescalero and the apache close by I may be able to see what the best disposition is.

Unfortunately its meth and pot now. I know a canyon that a gent tells me he found a plate...........I havent hit that one yet.

Hey canyon, I found this hidden hole, made of large boulders. It may open up later on in the tunnel, but they have a crushed rock all over the floor, and I havent breached it yet. Its marked with a flaming knife or torch on a large knife looking cap stone. Can you pm me on this one.
