Horse buckles ?

Ok here is a pair of buckles i found in a field the other day they were not to far apart pic shows the front of one and back of another think they are brass still kinda cool were about 8 inches down rang like a gong on my F2 think its strange that i didnt find much of anything else in area

Yeap, early 20th C I believe & for horses. There is another bit to it but can't remember what it looks like.
 

Hard to tell the size from that pic, but if they're less than an inch long, they are probably from the cheekpieces of a bridle.

Those types of buckles are pretty common on bridles and if you found them together it's likely that the bridle broke and fell into the field. Maybe there was deep growth on the field at the time and the horse's rider couldn't find the bridle so over time it rotted away and the buckles sunk into the soil. Until you came along!
