It's just under 3 1/2" wide. Anybody know exactly what it is, what it was used for, or how old would be appreciated. Also, if anybody knows of a link to ID old farm equipment like this ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1421413885.645621.webp, please post!

Is there a bar running under the ruler? I have a belt buckle (for people) like that if so.

Yes, here is a better picture.

Oh, I think I misunderstood your question. Did you mean a bar running parallel to the ruler?

Yes - like this.

Yours looks more like a broach; but I think still it's a leather belt buckle. Just a different style.

My buckle seem awful big to be a belt buckle used for people. Here are some measurements.

The oval frame itself is 8mm in dia and the overall dimensions are 89mm x 97mm

The prong is 6mm in dia

That looks very similar to mine

Agreed. Found the other thread of a similar piece and Bosnmate had even pulled up the same picture.

I have one I wear with a 3" wide belt. That was the "style" in the 1700's to mid 1800's. Worn over a frock coat or long shirt with no belt-loops to worry about and a heavy knife and/or belt pouch the wider belts spread the weight better. But the Cinch belt with web/lines is the better answer for yours.
