Hotel room hunting

When I worked at a Marriott we found some of the worst things in rooms used codems on the floor people sick in rms ect. we changed sheets everyday (were suposed to) some houskeepers dont, your blanket and bedspread are the worse things they dont get chaged till the quaterly cleans! So do not sit on them dont drop your toothbrush in the sink either TRUST ME! dont stick your hands inbetween mattress take mattress up to look same with behnd stuff, DO NOT leave any thing of value even expeness make up in rooms put in small lock case and take to desk to lock up except for where I used to work it safer in your trunk! Wiping with Clorox is your best bet!

Scrounger, WE are treasure hunters Hehe! we are naturally inqusitive! ;D

See you soon, are you bring your wife tis time so we can meet her?

Hope so! :icon_sunny:

Whenever i stay at a motel i like to get up and be outside just after daylight to walk up and down behind the rows of parked cars like i am exercising. Glancing between the cars as i walk i sometimes spot dropped bills. If there is a chainlink fence around the establishment, go to where all the papers blow to and kick them around.

For me it was a baseball bat under the bed , a list of local drug dealers and hookers in the Gideons bible

When I was around 6, I lost my favorite stuffed animal (a cute looking spider) in a hotel while I was on vacation. I was surprised to find it in the mail 3 weeks later- after my parents said I probably would not see it again! It turns out that the maid found it behind the dresser and they actually took the time and money to mail it to me!

I once forgot a Maglight 6-cell in a Super 8 in Minneapolis...:sadsmiley:

Some people run the detector over the waste trap from the sink looking for rings.

Condoms and bedbugs are the only things I've ever found...

Wife and I took a weekend trip over the summer and found this in the shower......here's lookin at you kid..... eyes1.webpeyes2.webp

I once found a cooked, petrified ribeye steak stuck between the mattress and the box springs.. Had to soak that thing in a bowl of water and microwave it before it got tender enough to chew... :occasion14:

My wife and I prefer staying in a B&B type establishment. They are typically more expensive, but much cleaner and you don't have problems with rooms being messed up like some of the descriptions here. The nicest place we ever stayed was Ravenwood Castle in Hocking Hills (Ohio). We were in the King Arthur Room. Crane's Beach House in Delray Beach, Florida was great. We just returned from St. Augustine where we stayed at the St. Francis Inn. The place had a different sort of adventure (haunted). Yes, we did experience the famous "Lily" and her lover-- but that is a story for another day. hehehe

Want a really big eye-opener??????????????????

Use a black light on the bed cover and sheets.

The semen covered bed covers will look like a war zone

Sometimes the sheets have not been changed also........hmmmmmmmmm

Condoms and bedbugs are the only things I've ever found...

....$30 bucks or so on ebay gets you a double size silk sleep sack.

a little piece of mind for me, anyways

rather sleep in my truck camper

When i go to a hotel I slide out all the drawers and check under the beds as well as between the matresses I often find change, I got to stay at two hotels last week and found a unused diaper and 2 hyperdermic needles along with 2 empty but obviously used little baggies and some burned foil, (it was actually a pretty classy hotel so the drug parafenelia was a suprise) I wraped it up real good and threw it away.
Just a idea when you going to have to stay in a hotel.

Thats funny you made a post of this....I do this EVERYWHERE i stay...and its actually been sucessful...the first time i went to Las Vegas, I found a womans silver ring and a 30 dollar gaming voaucher stuck in the cusions....When i was on my High school prom night, i found a girls engagement ring under the bed...of course i had to give it to my GF so i wasnt sleeping alone...lol

The last motel I stayed in was at Port Aransas,TX.,it was nice, about $75 a night and I made that back on the 1st. night I spent there.Remember the movie "No country for old men",where that guy hid the money in the air vent?,well we stayed in a room that just the week before had Spring Breakers in it.The wife said that the toilet wouldn't flush right ,so I took off the tank lid & there was a big old bag of pot and a glass bong,it the little walk in closet, right above the door was a bag full of money ,around $400,mostly $5's (I was thinking stripper money),and later on at night while I was taking a bath,I saw something in the drain,it was a long silver chain with about a quarter carrt dimond on it.
Oh and in the vent in the room?,nothing except cool air.

Sorry it should have red as the week after spring break.

My wifes friend works for a big chain of hotels as some sort of regional manager and some of the stories you hear are disgusting to say the least.
The bedspread not getting cleaned often is big. Suppose to do it quarterly, but some places won't do it at all unless someone has made a complete mess of it. Basically spilling something on it that won't come out with wiping it. A lot of times they don't even change the sheets between guests.

I use to have to stay in motels with one job. The worst I've seen
-unflushed plugged toilet
-used condom on the floor
-brown skids in the bed sheets

Sleeping in a cardboard box would be cleaner than some places.
Some places are really clean, but then the same named hotel somewhere else can be disgusting.

May be not. Many years ago, I found a teddy behind the bathroom door. It was the right size, so I took it home. You can't believe the wrath and ire I got from the wife, as she was convinced is was doing something else besides outside sales!

Only thing I ever found was a pair of shoes under the bed. Still looking for the stash of cash! Lol!
