What's up everybody. Well, I didnt post anything last weekend because I only found one fired 3 ringer at a new cleared spot in Suffolk, VA last Saturday. Last Sunday, I ventured out to a redoubt at another spot on the Peninsula that I had been itching to go to...It had obviously been hit WAAY Hard as it was SILENT NIGHT or nothing but trash. Well, today I went back to one of my tried spots that I haven't hit in a few months. I was going to actually make a video of this hunt but accidently left the DVR in the truck. Anyway, LEAD LEAD LEAD was all to be partaken today... this was my take for little over an hour after work:

Alright Josh, my eyes aren't what they used to be. Is that a bullet in a chunk of something in the center?
Is that a bullet below on the bottom, or one of those 5-sided decorative pieces?
Congrats,
MM

Yep, it is a bullet in a chunk of dirt and wood. I am going to try to preserve it like it is. I was hoping to get some buttons today but didnt happen. Oh, that is a minie on the bottom BUT I DO know what you are talking about as you and I both have one.

Nice work on the preservation, buddy! And a GREAT collection of relics there! Is the large shell (its nose is just outside of the photo) a Hotchkiss or Parrot?

Hey Will, thanks I appreciate it. Yes you got it, it is a 10lb Parrrott. When do you plan on hitting that field again? :)

I actually went on a hunt to a new spot today. I'm putting the Buckle Spot on the back burner because it will not be plowed and planted. The other spots will. So I'll have it as a back up after the plowing. I made a post in Today's Finds. Some neat things, but a really cool Native American point I found--monster of a point almost five inches long.

You have one sweet collection there.
Thanks for the post & pictures,

Thanks Bud. You are working on creating a nice collection yourself. I really REALLY liked that early 1800s Artillery Button that you found a few weeks ago!

Awesome piece Josh.....I'm a wood scannin' fool myself.0 to my list so far,but I still got a few year's left.Stick with it Buddy.Great Find's!!!!

I'm curious, did the bullet hit the wood after being shot or did the wood grow around it. it doesn't appear to mushroomed from the pic. Either way thats the coolest bullet I've seen.

Okay...that is sweeeeeeet!! The bullet in the wood is amazing! Nice!!!!

No, it actually struck the wood. What you see has been cut in half to reveal the minie. If you see it in person, you will see that the side facing the wood is distorted. I think it was near spent when it entered therefore there wasn't the strong "mushrooming" effect that you see with many of the bullets that hit wood. In fact, you can see the entrance hole in the back of the piece of wood.

Here is another example where the minie ball did not 'mushroom':

I like the embedded lead too! Awesome collection you have. Congrats!

Even if it were hunted before, you still excavated some nice bullets. Josh, you kicked the buttocks of those past huntas (hunters).

Keep sweeping with the fever, bud! :icon_sunny:
