Detector(s) used
White's Coinmaster and MXT, sluice
It was a day of firsts. First full day hunting, First park, first swimming area. Talked to another new MD'er. He had an Ace 250 and I had my Landstar. Noticed they interefered at about 10 feet away from each other. He caught more interference from me than I did from him. Anyhow, he left and a minute or so later I was working over an area he had been at (he was only digging stuff his Ace ID'ed) when I got a signal close to the concrete piling. I had been seeing how close I could detect before the rebar set off the detector and I noticed this signal was about 3 inches further out than the hot area from the piling. When I dug it, out popped a silver toe ring. My first ring. My daughter is small enough to wear it on her pinkie. Also found a lump of what appears to be raw silver, gonna have to check it out. You got it, now I'm hooked.

I liked his Ace better than I do mine but I also prefer digging everything so I run mine in all metal mode.

Last thing, I noticed the Landstar loses its discriminate ability if the batteries are in any ways low yet it will still search quite well in all metal mode. Dollar store here I come, they have 2 9 volts for a dollar there. Figure I'll stock up.

My other finds included 5 pounds of trash. I figure trash removal is my free service.

The noise canceling headphones really help, got em on ebay.

Found an old swing set I'll have to detect by in the same park later. It looks like it hasn't been used in awhile so I am just betting there is something hiding around it.

Congrats on the ring. :)

My only coil for the Garrett is pretty big, so I probably can't get close enough to big metal. Oh well. :D A bit more jewelry and maybe I can convice my wife the small coil is worth the cost. :P

HH.

the headset I got was $10 including shipping and handliung off ebay, really helps cut wind and background noise

how close u can get ultimately depends what u have your sensitivity set at.
