These two points are made from rock not native to my area and I was just wondering how far they traveled to get out here in the middle of South Dakota? So does anyone recognize this rock? And is the larger one made with the one side worked out normal or is it a slip of the knapper? IMG_0828.webpIMG_0827.webpIMG_0826.webp

Okay blindpig, I will await for the knowledged one to appear.

If your interested? Your material comes from different locations in Wyoming, and Montana.

The larger one is asymmetrical because it was a hafted knife.

Look's like Tongue River Solitified Sediment to me also known as TRSS

In The Big Horn Mountains in northern Wyoming, and south central Montana. I believe this material is the same.

looks like grey flint

It is...its just that if you really want to you can narrow down where it was quarried and give it a name based on the location and make up of the material.

It does look like the samples you posted old digger. So how old are these points? I understand the hafted one completely now too. My Uncle was thinking they were from Kentucky possibly. I'll let him know they only went on a short journey.
