How many Ikes did it take for you to find a silver dollar?

I have found 120 Ikes, but no silver dollars.

It took me under $50.00 for mine. I found it in loose though. The bank I got it from also handed me over multiple 90/40% halves on the same day. No culling there. I got lucky though.

You have about $40.00 profit with those in hand when you resell them. Ikes are suprisingly profitable. I have sold over $50.00 now, still have $160.00 left.

I think i have ~500 ikes at home no silver dollars, no silver ikes.

the only silver dollars i have are from the pawn shop and those magazine article links people were posting back in april-ish

I've gone thru at least $600-700 in Ikes in over 3 years. Not one silver Ike or other.
I have dug a Morgan and Peace dollar tho, seems to me the chances of digging one are greater :laughing7:

thats probably true lol !!

Unrelated but interesting info-
I saw a pretty cool show the other night on some guy who has been trying to unravel the whereabouts of the confederate gold & silver that Davis fled with when they abandoned Richmond. He's found several small caches worth about 200k of todays money. I guess they were gold and silver confederate dollars, estimated to be worth about 20 mil today.

:o F#$#$%$% S$%$!!!

I just got a silver boner you tease.

It all depends on the teller, whether they know about silver or not.

I can buy thousands worth of ikes if i wanted to from my dump bank, they get a bunch, but they are all cherry picking tellers, and they know about 40% silvers. Not a chance they miss one silver, only when pigs fly.

I have however found 2 peace dollars(1922d and 1922s) from a bank stop back in 2009.

I would guess I have found about $1000 worth of Ikes in the past 15 months and out of that I have found [3] 40% Ikes and [2] Morgans! :headbang: I can usually sell $100 in Ikes for $130-$140 on craigslist!

HH,

$ilver$urfer :hello:

My teller had told me a guy brought in $630 worth. I only had $40 at the time and planned to go back the following week. This was a Friday. I go back the following Wednesday as the teller wasn't there the other times I went. She only had $140 left I think. Nothing good. Was kind of hoping there would be something else mixed in, maybe a Morgan or 2. But I'm thinking if someone dropped that much maybe it was a dump. And also kind of wished I had picked up more when she told me about them. I had more $ but didn't want to get in trouble for dropping my check all on coins. Maybe it worked out for the best. Not sure if someone came in and picked up the rest or what.

Ive probably gotten 400 or 500 in Ikes so far the most interesting find was a Ceasars Palace gaming token in a roll of 20, and 3 rolls of uncirculated 1971 and 1976 which Im still trying to sell on cl Ive never found a silver or a 40%

I have two 40% Ike's from the bank. Both were from loose coins. In fact, I have never gotten rolls of Ike's. They are always loose or bagged. They are pretty scarce around here. Probably searched less than 300 in total.

I scored a Peace dollar from my bank when a woman in front of me was cashing in her Ikes.

This is one of the reasons I started CRH...and I didn't even know what that dollar was called when I scored it. I had to go to the coin shop, where they told me that it was a common Peace dollar and made of 90% silver.

The funny part about it was that the teller was complaining because the Peace dollar wouldn't fit into her teller tray, and said, "Here. You want this thing? I can't get it to fit in the dollar coin slot!".

So far, I've gotten about $700 in Ikes, and nothing silver, proof, Peace/Morgan, or even 1973!

YET.

Fortunately I've been able to flip 'em on ebay, average about $1.30 each (minus 9% fee, so that makes it $1.18 each). Not worth my time if I were only in it for the money, but it's a nice way to get rid of 'em.

found one under $30, along with 2 S proofs. Do pawn/coins shops buy the S proofs?

Over 500 Ikes searched and I've ended up with six Morgans. Five of the Morgans from one stop.
