My first detector is the DFX so i relied on the screen for ID and depth after a few months i recognized the sounds but still used the screen for how deep ,now i have a Sov.GT without a meter it seems pretty easy to use getting used to the sounds, i think the only thing i will miss is how deep the target is ? the general rule is between 4 to 6 inches anyway with a few exceptions . If need be i can always get the meter to see the VDI numbers and mount it on top of the Sunray probe the control box will be in a hip mount bag . give me a month and ill have that machine cranking
