How much was too much?

I'm sure many remember when the large cities hosted summer concerts that had 5 major bands playing during the day. Back in 78/79 Vancouver held one such concert and being of no-mind consequences I dropped 5 hits of sid before each band came on to play. To this day I have a hard time remembering what bands played that day, or get mixed up with other concert events, the number of cells killed off were many I'm sure.

That makes me crazy just thinking about it. (also makes my back hurt).

For me a fifth of Southern Comfort first night home from deployment to South East Asia during Nam was too much, can't stand to even smell a bottle cap from it now.

I have too many stories , but one of the top 5 i'd say involved Southern Comfort .

A few days after 5 inches of sleet fell (had a ball playing football that day in the street), it was 2 days after the storm we had some thaw-refreeze day & nights. Then one night after running out of beer someone showed up with a Liter of S-Comfort.

We walked downhill to the Pool area of my Hood 'I was wearing my Sperry Top-Siders ' we passed the bottle around I recall thinking how smooth & Sweet it was (Drinking it strait) We got loud I recall stating if the Cops come "i'm hitting the creek" WELL , The cop's came , I ran to the creek recall breaking through the ice , bare foot cause those shoes had '0' traction.

A bit later I recall trying to climb a few stairs behind a house but kept falling back down, then recall bits and pieces of trying to walk back up the Hill to my friends house. 'FROZE' , next thing I really remember was waking up the next afternoon at Home , Sore , Sick , & That Taste ...Hated southern Comfort ever since even 'That Smell' ; I even cussed Janice Joplin Out :laughing7:

Did not drink it again for 15+ years & then only to stop the Shakes. Still Tasted like crap.

You left out Andre Previn Cold Duck and Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill.

Great 'Mug Shot' Never had the Cisco, & Rode the Night Train only once (a smooth trip) Heard 'Thunder Bird ' "made you bleed from the nose " .

Boone's & Strawberry Hill was for the Chicks But it still Worked.

Was there a "Brass Monkey" like Beastie Boy's sang about?

I still hate those Wines , as I dig their bottle caps all the time in certain parts of town.
(actually everywhere but more so in some parts of town).

Never heard of those wines before and anything called "Easy nights" just sounds like a bad morning after. Never was into premixed drinks, it seemed that beer was the trend for years until the taste buds liked this over ice.

Man !
I could post on this thread for Hours , never liked Bacardi Rum that much , I did enjoy me some Bacardi 151 proof.

I got an ulcer from drinking & Worrying so much that White Russians went down better ; then in the last 2 years of my Drinking at a couple Bars the 'White Puerto-Ric-an ' was derived in my mind as a 2 fer 1 Drink , then I found out they were charging me $7-$8 a drink.
Milk , Kahaula (hey I just drank it , not spelled it ) & 151. That got me on the Dance Floor when some Keith Sweat or C & C music factory started booming.
LOL

Drank a gallon of orange flavored Vodka (not Vodka and orange juice) on a train ride to Paris from Germany when I was stationed over there. Didn't see much of Paris but I did find out that when you barf in the toilet on a train in Germany you can see the cross ties going by REALLY fast which didn't help with the upchucking of most of my vital internal organs. 34 years later I still have not EVER put a sip of Vodka to my mouth. As some of the other post have mentioned about remembering there experience, I'm getting a lump in my throat just typing this.

Oh the 'Horror'.

I can not drink Gin either. Roommate in service spilled a fifth on linoleum floor of our barracks room one night while I was sleeping, when I woke up in the morning the gin had started dissolving the linoleum and made me sick from smelling itt to this day I can't stand Gin because of it.

For the amount of Tequila, Mezcal, Scotch, Vodka, Rum I have drank surprised they don't bother me. My best friend and I use to kill a fifth of Two Fingers tequila before hitting the bars, I would drink Chivas Regal scotch with tequila chasers, he was drinking Jack Daniels with tequila chasers.

I never really got into the cheap ones while doing stints in the States, my tastes were more refined I think.:icon_scratch: Then again I don't recall some of the binges like two weeks in a motel room in FL on bathtub crank. For some odd reason that just doesn't sound at all good for the brain cells.

That scene makes me think of the end of' Apocalypse Now ' = Dark , Erie , with 'this is the End playing in my head'

Here's the song, which is on "Street Survivors". One of my favorite songs by them, but they never play it live.

That is a good one , you don't hear often.

Being born in May of 1971 , Skynyrd was a tad before my time , but Since Culture Club & Flock of Sea Gulls did nothing for me I loved the older Rock & Roll.

Funny When I listen to Music ;I like it loud , the other day Blasted "That Smell" for my wife & 9 y/o ; I think it took as he kept saying 'That Smell' through out the Day.

Remember the tune well, but it doesn't have the same appeal 40yrs later. But the roommate at the time loved Skynyrd and had all the long plays, also tapes. We'd party in the walk up and the only way to really let loose was invite the whole building to the parties. When the amp was cranked through the Altec Lansing speakers, tunes always had a way of sounding great. Soon that wasn't a great idea as there wasn't enough space, so a house was the option. The house warming party started, numerous visits by the Queens Cowboys and the threatening of confiscating the sound system, the roommates came to me and said we should chill the party. :censored:MAN! We started why? Well it's been two straight weeks of party-OH :icon_scratch:

Ah, have a son I should named Once.

Also in that picture is one of the new flavors of MD20/20, the original was grape flavored, also the girls drank the Boone’s farm Strawberry Hill and Country quencher flavors. It was always better to end up with the girl that drank the Strawberry Hill, because they didn’t smell as bad after throwing it up.JMHO

That would be different, then he could hook up with Mary Jane live in a little joint, that hopefully doesn't have any roaches. :laughing7:
