I have as of late not found any "NEW" sites to hunt... so I go over my old ones... there is always something there... it seems, to this day I don't know how I or the half dozen other hunters that his this particular sire missed any of this but they did... and so did I...

1953 Wheat Penny, WWI/WWII Uniform Cuff Button, 1948 Rabies Dog Tag and a 7.8 gram mans silver .925 ring! all found in a well hunted area... you just wouldn't believe whats underneath your feet!

I have a few places that I hunt regularly and I go over the same spots multiple times. It always amazes me how I missed some of the things that I am still finding.

I do occasionally, but not often.

I do know if you approach a gridded area from a different direction you often get signals that werent there the first time.

I do revisit sites, because sometimes other options are hard to get, crops aren't cut, cant get permission for a new site, or you just want to go to a site and detect without any other hassle. While the concentrations/iron patches can get quiet pretty quickly, it seems different directions, different weather/soil conditions, and different speeds can bring up more targets. And of course, ploughing.
Then if you consider the sheer distance you need to walk to cover an entire field to pick of stray finds, there's always a possibility!

When I'm doing a lunchtime hunt I'm very limited to where I can hunt. I work in a city so there are no houses with yards. It is all buildings, cement and asphalt with a few parks sprinkled in for good measure. Due to the limited time I can only go so far so I have four small city parks I hit over and over again. I've been told by many people that these parks have been hit for 40+ years and are hunted out. I usually find something good on every short hunt and last month I found a Morgan Silver Dollar which I had missed along with all the other hunters over the last 40+ years. Also found a Walking Liberty Half not too long ago. I'm just amazed by the range of finds I've pulled from these parks. Modern clad all the way back to a 1600s Spanish cob and everything in between except for any Bust Silver which eludes me. Some of these parks I've hit 30-40 times.

Happy hunting

Yes, I cant even count how many times I have been told that by the old man watching me as I roll my eyes (Like they know better).
It's a hobby for heavensake...I am not going to find the Lost Dutchman's Mine! :sign13:
I grabbed a 1916 merc dime that was just under the surface of an area I am sure was pounded over the years.
It was to the right of the main walkway that led to the back of a swimming area entrance.
My pinpointer was going nuts in the soil. Perhaps, newer technology brought her up...perhaps just better discrimination/iron cancelling. Who knows?
It may be like finding a needle in a haystack, but there is always one or two that eluded the masses over the years. :icon_thumleft:

as long as I'm finding stuff I keep going back!

the 1st site i ever hunted was a trading post site and i would go back to it for on and off for over 14yrs and generally i would still pick up good finds...

To save gas I usually hunt the same places, too. There is always something there, even if it is only clad. I'm happy just to get out and enjoy the hobby.

Ive hunted some of our best colonial era sites dozens of times. The ones in the farm fields anyhow.
