How OFTEN do you see other detectorists in your City / Town?

How OFTEN do you see other detectorist's in your City / Town?

Do you guys/gals REALLY get so many people detecting in your Cities and Towns?

I'm REALLY curious as to this question, because I live in a CITY of over 1,000,000 People and I have seen ONLY 1 (one) other person using a Metal Detector in the LAST 26 years! Now to be fair, I'm just getting back into it, but even when driving around, visiting Parks, Lakes and Picnic Day trips, I see NOBODY. I know what you're thinking,... that this sounds like a bunch o' Crap, but it's true!
As an example, I live 'RIGHT NEXT DOOR' to my Kid's Elementary School. So close in fact, that I could 'literally' Toss him over our fence, onto the School property! There are at least 8 other schools within short walking distance and I've NEVER seen a person with a Detector in the 10 YEARS that I've been living in this neighborhood. Could it simply be a matter of Location and Numbers, seeing as how I live in a BIG Country with a MUCH smaller population and that Metal Detecting is VERY seasonal for the Hobby (5 or 6 months MAXIMUM) ??

never see ANYONE MD'ing. EVER.
In fact, most of my friends and family make fun of me on a regular basis because it's so unusual.
i live a few miles from one of the fist settlements in the US. plus where many founding fathers lived at different points in their lives.

I don't know how many there will be where I'm moving but I hope to atleast have someone there to hunt with.

Located in small town in ms . Have never seen anyone . Once at nearby town , saw where someone had been digging . Left a mess !!!

I'm in the San Francisco parks just about every Saturday. I run into someone only 1 or 2 times a year. With close to one hundred parks in the city and a huge main park I guess it's hard to cross paths?

I've only seen one in Washington State and that was out in sticks, never in town

i have meet 4 or 5 people detecting in my town
2 are members of t-net and i have to say they are some of the best people i have meet
we hunt together some times
the other 3 seem a little peevish-ed that i was detecting

for a while I was the only one around here then some others showed up digging and leaving holes behind and not filling them, I even had the police ask me to demo how I dig and retrieve coins and when I was finished they said he's not the one. I guess they was looking for the ones who leave the holes. Never thought about it till I went to check out our socceer fields and there was holes everywhere and alot of junk lying right on top the ground. Did find some silver from the area and probably packed out around 20 pounds of trash lying around. So if they are gonna detect and dig either fills the holes or get out of dodge... you know what I mean..

Not very often,and I live in a town of over a million people,but I think it's more of where I go and when I go.I sometimes go at 7a.m. and other times, when most people are at work.

I was able to get out for the first time in a long time here where I live. I have never seen anyone hunt in town but I did see a hole some had dug this very morning before I got there. I was there at 8 am. He/she left me a memorial in the hole and 3 wheaties near it. TMAN...

I haven't seen anyone else here, although I know there's at least one more in town because I've noticed his plugs.

Never seen anyone,All I've seen is SLOPPY evidence of the ghost in town who is going to RUIN it for the rest of us.
