HI all
Today Friday, 5/23/08, I was detecting along the backside of the property of the Robert Frost Farm here in Derry NH.
I came upon this button, don't quite know how old it is, since I've never come across one like this. It has a pattern on the front of
it, almost like a weave.
Any one have any idea how old? I've come across several colonial ones this year, but this is far different than those I've
found. The quarter is there for size comparison.

Looks late 1700s

Old ??? Cool find !

Keep @ it and HH!!

I agree with Crusader on the date of the button. Here's one with the same basket weave design on the front. (To the left of the thimble) Both yours as well as the one below in my photo are made of pewter.

I would concur with the above statements. That button, being found in America, is late 1700s to early 1800s. With it likely being from the 1800s. Those are really nice buttons and if you look close you can see the old hatching type design on the front. These were very popular in the years that preceded the Civil War.

Thanks for the input people, I really appreciate it. It seems very heavy, I thought it might be
made out of pewter too. It the best one as of yet.

going out again tomorrow, hope to hit an old house and maybe near the Frost farm again.
