How to clean the magnet?

Hey guys, a quick question before I go out and dump 2k in halves. I have three banks (CSE credit unions) who all have coin machines. I always ask to clean out their reject bin and always find a few bent pennies. I am always reading how people "cleaned the magnet" and found silver or foreign coins. Any instructions on how to locate the magnet and clean it? And yes, I realize those last two sentences sound like I am in fifth grade sex ed again lol. Thanks for your input and your help! I can figure out what kind of machine it is as well.

I've never asked to clean the junk collector inside the machine, but I know that silver coins are not magnetic.

They are talking specifically about the Penny Arcade machines at TD bank. They have a magnet in the tray that you pour the coins through. Some people are able to lift the tray enough to be able to swipe the foreign magnetic coins. There is a second magnet inside the machine, but it's not accessable unless they need to clear a jam or clean a sensor...

None of the other machines I've used have a magnet, they simply reject the foreign.

My bank's machine has a sort of concave strainer you dump your coins into. I noticed an inaccessible magnet on its underside near the edge, but I managed to flip a Canadian quarter off it.

If i fill a bag up i will ask for the rejects not spit out. [magnet too if i know of one]

Right after I posed this question I found a 1968 half in the reject bin. It was a great day! lol

Too bad that you have to have an account to dump at TD. Or else I'd definitely be going and trying to clean the magnet as often as I could.

Ask the tellers if it isn't a self serve

Or just ask them if they have any unusual coins you can buy from them. Never hurts to ask and you might end up getting this "funny large coin" which could be a Morgan or walker.
