How to preserve badly rusted shotgun?

I found this shotgun in the river last week and want to stop it from rusting further. I think I don't have time/facilities to melt that much wax but could maybe manage electrolysis? Should I try to clean out the barrel? Any advice welcome.

Try naval jelly or vinegar with lots of wire brushing between treatments.
After it dries out treat with oil then wipe excess off
It will bleed oil for awhile but be patient it will stop
