So I went to pick up some bags today, got 1 bag of dimes and 8 bags of pennies..

(7 silver dimes found, kinda weak, but that's besides the point)

At the first bank where I always get treated the best, and pick up the largest volume, they had a bag of halves for the first time in the 6 months I went there.

I asked the teller if I could see it first. She brought it out and showed it to me, I didn't see any silver through the bag so I told her i didnt want it.

She said ok no prob and brought it back... As soon as I got to the car I wanted to kick myself in the face. Its been bothering me all night. Im heading back first thing tomorrow on the way to work to get it

Should of bought it. Worst case scenario you get someones dump, best case scenario, behind the clad, is a 1901 Barber Half.

You broke a cardinal rule......

I've gotten vault bags of halves where you could readily see silver rims, Bens, and/or WLH through the plastic. Those turned out to be great bags.

The latest bag I got, I studied it for quite a while before calling it my own and only saw 2 silver rims. I was on the fence until I saw those 2 Ag - only because I had gotten a very weak bag from that CU before.

That bag had 0 90% but had 27 40%'ers. All were found by edge searching, I didn't date search it at all. Hard to say if I missed any 40's. I like to think that I don't miss any, but . . .

Until I saw CRHSW'er's post, I didn't believe you could miss 40%'ers by edge searching. I know believe that there might be an occasional one slipping through the cracks.

Well why don't we all just move up to good ol Wisconsin and cull all that silver for you. Since your pulling in 27 40% ers In a bag of coins....and thinks that it's weak? Lol

Yea i take all halfs even if i know there dumps and i tell them am doing it for them to help them. It goes a long way!

No, this 27-keeper bag was not weak. That was my 4th best of all time. The weak bag was one I had gotten at that same CU about 9mo ago. That bag had an abundance of guitar picks and drink tokens and no more than 3 silvers. That was my 2nd worst bag of all time - a net loss of $12. My worst bag of all time was a net loss of $19 - 4 silvers, but 11 Diaz-Peso (one has the Ag center, the other 10 - not), 3 guitar picks, and oodles of cents, nickels, and qtrs (no dimes).

It does go both ways with coin miscounts. When you sell the bag, you might get hosed. When you buy the bag, you might get hosed. I've never come out ahead on face value count - just on silver finds.

Wisconsin is fairly dry as far as boxes go. I focus on bags as much as possible. There are very few sources for bags though. You have to really work for it.

If the bag took months to fill up its probably not dumps. I would grab that bag.

I am lurking up the street from the bank as we speak. It opens in 12 minutes. I plan to be the first one in

Lol! I would have been having nightmares about this all night! Did you get it?

I have the bag in my trunk, and now I can't concentrate at work... It's gonna be a long day!

How mcuh is in a vault bag? How do you ask for these?

Oh my bad... Lol I can't believe you've gotten all that crap mixed in with your coins before. How can these fancy machines be so poor at counting and recognizing coins from guitar picks?

Normally you just go to the teller line and ask if they have any coin you can buy.

A bag of halves are $1000

OK you are in Time Out, go stand in the corner until the bank opens.

The bag turned out to be pretty weak. 3 40% halves..

Oh well I guess

Some silver is better than no silver. If I could find more than 2 40% per batch, I would love it!
