I could tell I had not hunted in a while as I was taking insitus of everything that ended up being nothing. This is a pretty old site and has kicked out a few kirks in the past. The farmer cleared some edges for more acreage and called me and said the field had laid down pretty good after that last rain and he found a few. I found mostly brokes. One decent knife and one real nice thumb scraper and some study pieces.

Found this lap stone that had been kicked around by the plow pretty bad and left it for the next hunter.

Two best finds of the day the knife and thumb scraper.

Great hunt and it looks like the weather was nice as well. Cant enlarge pics today for some reason. I was hoping to get a closer look.

I tried spacing them out so they would dbl click and enlarge? Was a little chilly but beautiful out. Thanks rock.

OK works now. Archaic flaking? #4 is a sweet looking preform.

Yes. Those broke tips would have been very large I think.

Nice finds. It is always great to get to a nice field to look!!!!

Looks like you had a good day with some nice finds.

TnMtns...looks like you had quite a haul of stuff...I went out today too, but only found a tip and a few preform pieces...it sure was pretty though...what is a lap stone?

Thanks guys it was good to just get out. I went after work. It was yesterday but I put the wrong date on it. Still owe you all some hunts

Hey Joe

Do you think we have ever hunted the same area? :laughing7: It is that sand stone mtn stone with the worn out area in the center. They used it for preparing food and smashing things.

thanks!...I get the feeling that my eyes need to expand beyond small pieces of chipped flint when I go looking...I could be passing all kinds of tools that were made of stones that were smoothed or modified for a purpose....and my guess is that when I go to a spot and find nothing, you probably already scraped it clean!...which means I'll be that "next hunter" who gets excited about the lap stone beat up by the plow.

Joe I am guessing you have driven by this field many times. I did not hunt your section last winter or this year. New stuff is always coming out though. You are in a good area. Feel free to post what you found here. I enjoy seeing local finds.

Hey Tn,
Good hunt. Really glad to see you got out and found some for posting. Looks like a good hunting spot.
