Hunt w/ Merf @ 1870's farmstead.
I met up with Merf today for a short hunt after my class in DeKalb. Nice guy, and good to finally put a face to a name. I found a couple relics here and there, but my most interesting find is this one, which I found just before I left. (Funny how you always find the good stuff right before you leave) I found it out in a plowed field, so it was only about 3 inches deep.
Merf said there is a lot of iron here, which there was, so I used my 5 inch coil. It rang up 12-33 on the E-trac, and it looks like silver, but no markings anywhere on it. It's about 3/4" long x 1/4" wide. Maybe some sort of jewelry. I dunno, maybe someone will.
Anyways, it was great hunting with Merf, and I look forward to hunting with him again. Thanks again Merf!
