Hunted a 100 year old house today

First of all I would like to thank JoeDirty for inviting me on his permission. We met on TreasureNet and now I consider him a good friend. I came out with 8 Wheaties, 2 Buffaloes, 1904 V Nickel and a silver ring and some relics, one of them being a American flag which I always love. It was a great day today. View attachment 1427547

I would also like to say that JoeDirty hit 2 bucket listers in a big way. He got 5 Buffaloes ( never got a buffalo before ) his first silver Washington quarter and 8 Wheaties. Congratulations my friend great job!!!

WOW, without a doubt a great hunt by you both. I am jealous and at the same time happy for you guys. I have yet to find anything very old other than about 9 wheat pennies. I enjoy the stories and pictures by everyone. I wish sometimes they would give a little more detail of their finds. Type of MD, depth of find ect. Even setting of machines would be very helpful to people like myself that hasn't been in the hobby that long.

Well not really nickels ring up on the F75 around 29-32 and on the ATP it will hit around 49-52 but your silver will always hit up in the 80s. The buffaloes were around 4 to 6 inches deep. It was the first time I've probably haunted virgin ground and it felt great. I think that's the first time I've ever been with a virgin. LOL

Well not really nickels ring up on the F75 around 29-32 and on the ATP it will hit around 49-52 but your silver will always hit up in the 80s. The buffaloes were around 4 to 6 inches deep. I started with a Bounty Hunter Sharpshooter II which I will not knock, I found a lot of coins and stuff with it. I gave it to my daughter in law who goes with me often and on a regular basic gets more coins than myself. This said after about 6 weeks I quickly upgraded to an AT Pro. The learning curve is not bad and I do find nickles I didn't find too many of with the Bounty Hunter. I have a little trouble with the ATP in Pro Zero, I get so many hits sometimes it is hard to pick them out, even ground balanced and with sensitivity turned down a couple of notches.

I have also found 4 cheap rings with the ATP but never found one with the BH, I contribute this to the different settings I used on the BH vs the ATP. I am digging a lot of bottle caps with the ATP I didn't dig with the BH. They ring up 80 and 81 most of the time and even in Pro Zero I haven't learned to identify them yet. I was wondering if better headphones would help this, I am using the ones that came with my ATP.

The bottle top will always be a torn because of that 80/81 but with better headphones it does help. I have the blue ones because they are waterproof, but I went wireless with both of my detectors and I do get shaper readings but it takes 100's of hours on these machines to master them so dig as much as you can and remember the sounds. One little scratch in sound is telling you something. But even today a scratchy 81 might be something. Curiously gets to me, but that crisp 81 landed me that 1941 Silver Merc yesterday and the sound was undeniable. Keep swinging.

Unless you are looking for relics you could discriminate out the iron, I have my iron discrimination at 35 and the bottlecaps will practically disappear.But mine is an AT Gold,it might be slightly different.
