Boy I really needed a detecting fix on Saturday. I had planned to spend a few hours out but by the time I had run around all day I only had 30 minutes left before it got dark. I figured 30 minutes was better than nothing.

I hit a sports field not far from where I live and it was soon turning up coins - in the 30 minutes before it got dark I had pulled $10. Since I could still make out the readout (but only just) I kept going in the dark and pulled out another $8 and a silver necklace with a 9ct gold crucifix. It was so dark all I knew was that I had a chain and cross as I couldn't make out whether it was silver or gold.

I decided to hit the same are in the morning. Within two minutes I'd pulled out a nice chunky silver bracelet and the coins kept coming. Out popped a nice silver ring with mother of pearl inlay. By mornings end I had detected 48 coins to a total value of $45.76. I do love our Aussie $1 and $2 coins. ;D

As much as I love detecting for old pre-decimal coins, its nice to get a good haul of 'bling' and 'ka-ching' too.

is the best friends thingy silver?
Congrats !

Yep the best friends thingy is silver too. I can't wait for Summer to roll around so daylight savings will kick in and I can get a few extra hours of detecting in. I don't make a habit of hunting after dark but when you are on a hot patch its sooo hard to stop detecting ;D
