...and foil.
Took my son out to my mom's today to give my wife some time to herself and give my mom some time with the grandbaby. I took along my detector to get out of their hair for a bit. My mom has an old barn on her property as well as a little grove of fruit trees.
When I got there she told me she thought the barn had been moved when they put the road through which was slightly discouraging, but I gave it a shot. I started digging nails, hunks of iron, iron bars, etc, so switched discrimination on and started getting endless scratched over broken signals. Finally I had one nice, clean, non-ferrous hit among the trees, but it was just a hunk of random metal with a hole in it.
The only item even remotely interesting was a handle from an old pair of small scissors. The rusted dog chain was too modern to count...
Obviously a gold detector isn't really designed for the barnyard, but even some clad would've been nice.
My congrats to the rest of you who I know did far better.

But I haven't had my detector very long. In order not to keep digging up nails, I turn my discrimination on in order to find coins and interesting stuff, but I think I'm going to start digging every signal for awhile and see what happens. I'll get a ton of rusty old nails, I'm sure, but it could be I'm missing a lot of good stuff.
