I didn't think I would have to ask....

It has the patent date on it of Aug. 30, 1875, but I couldn't find anything relating to or resembling this item in my patent searches.
Sorry I didn't give a visual size reference. Its just slightly smaller in dia. than a dime. BTW, its not bent from damage. Looks like it was made that way.
