I don't know what started this roll.....but....

I hope it won't end anytime soon.

Went back to the ball field that was nice enough to give me my first SLQ on Saturday. Had about 1½ hours after work before dark and the rain isn't coming until later tonight so off I went. Kinda like Saturday I had a real mix of targets but tonight the ground graced me with 3 silvers.

1945 Washington quarter, 1942 and 1945 Mercury dimes (plain)



Also found this interesting looking little lock like thing.....any guesses?



Here's the night's take, in addition to the lock and silver I also had 6 wheaties (1911,1920,1921,193?,1941 and 1942), 2 memorials and the pocket knife.

The mini handcuff is from a cheap keychain. Not real old but still a cool find. I've seen them for sale in lots of places over the years.

Jeff, I think I may look around the neighborhood and borrow a riding mower to cut that field myself this year. I would like to be able to swing smooth over this whole field all year and I know you need the coil on the ground as well.

Dave, if that field is within a close proximity to my place, I could load up the commercial John Deere zero turn and take care of the field for you...or should I say us

Dennis, the field is in Tower City. If you really want to do that just let me know and I will get the OK from the fire company that owns the property.

close enough for me, as long as we know there aren't any hidden dangers such as sink holes or pipes sticking up, I'll gladly bring the mower over one morning and cut it right before we hunt. at 14mph, we should be able to make short work of it.

Dennis, Uncle Jeff is right. I have never seen any real impairments to actually mowing this field, the problem is it's been "field" mowed for at least the last 5 years and the whole thing is full of "clumps" of some type of rigid grass blades.

I'll start watching for someone from the fire co. to get permission to mow. If the temp doesn't drop too bad tonight I'll be back there again (and every night after this if it's not raining...LOL).

Great finds! In the past I have seen what are called thumb cuffs (like hand cuffs but they go on the thumbs). May be what your lock thing is.

If your little cuff has some weight to it, it is one half of a set of thumb cuffs. They were popular during the 40s and 50s. A handcuff key should fit it.
