i found this ring in java

whilst i was living in south east asia...........
we were on one of the 1000 islands in the java sea.
i was snorkling and i found this ring on the sea bed, on the coral reef.
found it in the 1980's, its NOT magnetic, looks like gold, weighs approx 10g, no hall mark
possible hand cast, not sure on its age

any help would be nice :-)

Much better on the pics. As SS said, looks gold and probably pretty old. Get it tested at a jewellers. Possibly depicting one of the Javanese/Indonesian Gods. Looks like a snakes head to me...with horns.

Not sure if there is a connection here with your ring but just in case, here's a link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Bullhead_(SS-332) . That ring looks like a bullhead to me and it just so happens that the USS Bullhead sank somewhere in the Java Sea... Worth looking in to maybe.

thanks for the info - however according to reports it sank near bali, completely diff place to where i was,........ but u nevere know poss found and then again lost

I just got out of the bath and red is saying this one is scary and Cool!!! she cant stop looking at it and I told her to ask for better pictures side top etc!!!

That ring is Cool and scary like she said!!!

Are you using a tripod when you take the pictures

Can you set it on macro mode with a tripod to get better details

Don't get it cleaned yet!!!!

Have it tested carfully only on one area toward the bottom of the shank!!!!

depending on the camera I might be able to help you with getting better pictures!!!!

I would really like to see very detailed pics of It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
