TITLE.... big = bit

Hello all! New around here. I have always been the type to collect cards, rocks =P, mushrooms, and love to watch a variety of "Treasure" hunting shows. It amazes me! Well, I recently got this Silver Dollar as a tip (he did mean to give me a silver dollar) at work and got to talking to the guy about it. My mom always collected coins, and when he began to talk about the silver value of it alone i was immeditaley captivated. We then started discussing how the old pennies were beggining to be hoarded.....

WELL! The next day I went out and got a box of $25 in pennies came home and tore it open while "The Other Guys" played in the background. I was in search of COPPER!! BUT to my surprise I found much more! I ended up with somewhere around 20 wheat pennies! I know they arent too valueble, but I thought it was the coolest thing ever to get them out of a box straight from the bank haha. I immediately got HOOKED! Its only been about a week and a half and I have now gone through 5 boxes of pennies, a MASSIVE ziplock of random change, and around $100 in dimes.

AND! This is what I am up to so far! I cant BELIEVE how many of these stinkin wheat pennies are still in the rolls. I had one roll with THREE in it! ::hello2:

Its 66 total wheat pennies. Oldest is 1929 with a few 3x's in there as well. None seem to be real rare, but they are neat :)

The 3 dimes in back are just silver ones, and the one up front is from 1943.

After reading eveyrthing on here for the last two days I went to the bank on a mission... Now... throughout these first 5 boxes of pennies I have learned bank tellers kinda think im a pain in the ass! haha! So I am quickly adapting on how to talk to the tellers, and which ones to talk to in order to get help rather then get shoo'ed away.

I found one teller who is getting me 100 in pennies on Tuesday. I then just asked the teller as my bank today how many 50 cent pieces I could buy and she replied saying she had none... BUT! She jokingly said "If your looking for A LOT I can order them, but I need to order a minimum of 2 boxes" I was like uhhhhhhh REALLY?! HAHA! And Now I have 1k in 50 cent pieces on the way =P

This hooby sure hits hard haha
FREE silver!

Nice finds Kookiemonsta!

Welcome and awesome finds! What state do you hunt in?
HH
Buff

I like mushrooms too, and it's wild Morel time here in Michigan!
Avoid those Psilly Cybins though!

And another one joins the ranks of those eccentric coin rollers!

those coin bugs, hurt, they bit me once and my hand got pretty big, so your title is right. I find them all the time in cent rolls, nasty creatures

Congrats on the first finds! Gotta love those Wheat's. I think they are the most fun to find. Always remember to cultivate relationships with the tellers. They aren't here to give us as much coin as we want but the ones that do are the ones that go above and beyond their job description.

Welcome to the hunt Kookie! Let this be yet another lesson to everyone out there that doesn't think it is a big deal to talk about CRHing. You have a nice chat with someone who doesn't have any idea about it one day, and two weeks later you have passed the bug onto your newest competition who is being a "pain in the ass" to tellers and having them shoo him away. It isn't someone like Kookie's fault though. We all know how the bug bites. The best thing we can do now is to welcome him in and try to help him control the side effects of the disease.
