I was in my backyard picking blackberries & eating them. Didn't feel like cooking today....

I just happened to look down and there was a copperhead snake coiled back to strike me.

I must have used that teleporter from Star Trek - when I calmed down I was back in the house safe!!!

Probably got a hand full of ticks on me though - they are bad up here this year.

Please be Careful. Did you happen to get a picture of it afterwards ?

I didn't think of that at the time. I don't where my camera is either!!!

One of the joys of living in the south is picking fresh blackberries and knowing there are snakes in there. Grandma always said those little globs that looked like spit were snake spit!

But she always made sure we picked enough for two cobblers

So thankful he didn’t get those fangs in You!! However You got away, a Very Good Deal!!!!

I will say I have "copperhead" experience.

Bitten on my right leg when I was 12. EMS'd to the hospital, shots & observation, and then I was home. Extremely unpleasant time.....

Well glad your safe now :)

I’m hearing that new tick viruses are on the rise also
Ugh! Didn't need to hear that :(

Pulled two off me earlier this evening.

I had a close encounter with a small copperhead a few weeks ago. I keep an overturned flower pot on my flower bed sprinkler control and I took it off to unscrew one of the hose connections. I didn't even notice the snake until it moved its head. My hand was about 4 inches from it but it never offered to strike at me. Even when I got my picker upper tool and moved it to the woods it remained calm. I can't see killing something just because of what it is.

So that wasn't a cloud of humidity that drifted this way today ; it was a smoke vapor trail from your suddenly spry and fleeting feet!
L.o.l..

Good dodge Deep!
Psheew.
That wasn't smoke! It was vapor from a dampening of the linens! Just glad he's ok!

Nearly is close enough…!
I almost stepped on a rattler a week or so ago!
Does make the adrenaline max out,' huh?

I am glad you had the teleporter with you DeepSeeker! There is a plant that grows around here called rattlesnake plantain. Whenever I see it out of the corner of my eye, I jump away involuntarily. It is amazing how fast your reflexes can work when your senses detect danger (real or imagined).
